The Olympus AS-2400 transcription kit is an entry-level digital transcriber.  The As-2400 has many of the features of its professional counterparts with some distinct differences:

• Less Robust foot pedal for lighter use
• No encryption / decryption of files
• Cannot automatically receive voice files via e-mail or FTP
• No free installation, training, or support

If you are a transcriptionist who types occasionally, such as for a town board or a corporate executive, this is a good quality option that will do the job. If you type more regularly or need to receive files from a remote location, then you should purchase the Olympus AS-9000 professional transcription kit.

MULTIPLE FORMAT PLAYBACK

Plays DSS,  WMA, MP3, and WAV/AIFF audio formats in the background when another application is running, such as a word processor.

FOOTSWITCH CONTROL

Enables footswitch control of the playback process.

TRANSCRIPTION OPTIONS

Transcription can be done by combining the playback sound with the adjustable playback speed, tone control, and noise cancellation. (It is not possible to playback while setting the playback speed and noise cancellation simultaneously with the Macintosh version.)
